For this assignment, I am revamped my H5P video with the new knowledge I have acquired. When I initially made my H5P video, I included the following multimedia principles: the modality principle and the embodiment principle. The modality principle is the idea that people learn better from graphics and narration instead of graphics and printed text. Whereas, the embodiment principle is the idea that people do not necessarily learn better if the speaker’s image is on the screen. For the purpose of this assignment, I have decided to incorporate the segmenting principle to enhance my learner’s education. The segmenting principle is the idea that people learn better when a multimedia message is presented in learn-paced segments rather than as a continuous unit. Additionally, I have also incorporated the signalling principle. The signalling principle is the idea that people learn better when cues are added that highlight the key information and its organization.

My updated H5P video demonstrates the segmenting principle because with the four interactive methods I have included, the information is broken up into smaller units. This is valuable to my learners because it gives them the opportunity to digest the new information before learning more. Furthermore, the signalling principle is evident because the four checkpoints are relevant to the key pieces of information from the video.  This connects with the idea of the segmenting principle because they are both methods to concrete the information into the learner’s brains.

Originally, I included one quiz within the video but I would like to add more to cement the knowledge into my learner’s minds. This time around, I have included four opportunities for the learners to engage with the knowledge that they have recently learned. The first one is clarifying that they know what a peer reviewed, scholarly source is. Next, I included a true or false question regarding how to make a search on the database. Third, I aimed to solidify the purpose of peer reviewed, scholarly articles to my learner’s. Lastly, I incorporated a true or false question about the usefulness of the video. This is an important component because it gives me the opportunity to enhance my teaching styles.
